Three Cliffs Bay beach located in the Gower peninsula, Swansea, is one of our favourite beaches in South Wales. Named after the signature three limestone cliffs that overlook the beach, it is simply beautiful. This was one of the first places we flew our drone with huge open spaces and swooping landscapes that encapsulate the beach.
What to expect?
As the nearest car park is around 400m away, the walk to the beach is all part of the experience. We followed the meandering river that led out to sea. The different landscapes we met along the way were crazy! Sand dunes, salt marshes, a castle and beautiful beach were met within 30 minutes of each other. It is worth mentioning that the path from the car park to the beach can be difficult terrain and is definitely not wheelchair friendly…
Website ‘visitswanseabay’ created this guide including where to park and what to expect on the walk which we followed – https://www.visitswanseabay.com/wp-content/u_files/441689fd0eedbb1778cbc19d16ea078b.pdf
Quick tip!
When you are met by the stepping stones do not cross if you want to end up on the beach. The stepping stones take you across to a small island/dune which cannot be crossed again to get to the beach. Although, go ahead and check it out, it’s all part of the experience!
Romantic setting
If you’re looking for a romantic stroll along the beach at sunset then look no further! We visited in January and it was freezing, but hardly anyone was there, making the visit that bit more personal and romantic.
Open all year around and with dogs allowed there is literally no excuse to not visit this stunning destination. One thing that we have read time and time again is that the waters and tides are particularly strong. We would advise alongside these statements that swimming and water sports should not be undertaken! Lifeguard services only operate daily from 4th July – 6th September (10am-6pm). Although swimming may be off the cards if you’re a lover of horse riding look no further! This is one thing to add to our bucket list.
